Oracle ERP Implementation Readiness: Questions to Answer First
Successful Oracle ERP delivery starts with a clear understanding of business outcomes and operating constraints. Before detailed configuration begins, project teams should align on scope, ownership, data, integrations, reporting, testing, and change management.
Business scope and outcomes
- Which business processes are in scope, and which are explicitly out of scope?
- What measurable outcomes should the implementation support?
- Who owns process decisions and approves design changes?
Organization and controls
- Which legal entities, business units, ledgers, inventory organizations, or workforce structures are needed?
- What approval rules, segregation-of-duties controls, and audit requirements apply?
Data and integrations
- What are the source systems and authoritative owners for master data?
- Which integrations, file imports, APIs, and reconciliation controls are required?
- How will data quality, error handling, and migration sign-off be managed?
Reporting and testing
- Which operational and statutory reports are critical?
- Who owns test scenarios, expected results, and defect prioritization?
- How will business users validate end-to-end scenarios?
Training and adoption
Identify user groups, role-based training needs, support arrangements, and the process for communicating changes. Keep decisions and assumptions documented throughout delivery.
