Oracle Fusion SCM: From Requisition to Inventory
Oracle Fusion Supply Chain Management (SCM) supports connected procurement and inventory activities. A useful starting point is to follow the transaction from the original request through purchasing, receiving, and inventory updates.
1. Requisition and approval
A requisition communicates a need for goods or services. Approval rules and purchasing policies determine how that request proceeds.
2. Purchase order
The purchase order records purchasing details such as supplier, items or services, quantities, and commercial terms. Accurate master data helps reduce downstream corrections.
3. Receiving
Receiving records the delivery against the order. Differences in quantity, item, or delivery details may require review before the process continues.
4. Inventory transactions
Inventory transactions keep on-hand quantities and transaction history aligned with operational activity. Teams should understand the relevant organization, subinventory, locator, item, and transaction controls used in their implementation.
5. Reporting and investigation
When a balance or transaction appears unexpected, trace the source document, status, transaction history, and any interface or approval exceptions. Follow approved correction procedures and preserve the audit trail.
